Route 66 Adventure
September 26, 2014 afternoon
Day 2 Part B
Santa Fe, NM to Los Lunas, NM
After lunch Dennis and I decided to explore a bit of Santa Fe. We
were so lost that being able to see anything was a plus. I put the
state capital in the Garmin and we headed off.
The state capital of New Mexico is Santa Fe. We visited the State
Capital building which was definitely not what we are used to. No
dome, no fancy building, just a plain adobe building. Definitely
disappointed. Since there was no parking available, Dennis got out
and took pictures for me.
I have this desire to take a picture of every State Capital
building. I actually started this when I was a teenager and have
continued to have that desire. Yesterday I was looking at some of
the pictures of State Capitals from back in the 1960's. Memories!!
Back to now, here are some of the pictures taken at the Capital of New Mexco:

It was a beautiful drive back down from Santa Fe to Albuquerque.
Tho I have to say the drive going up to Santa Fe wins hands down for
beauty.
Albuquerque
We drove around Albuquerque for a while but again we got lost.
This was the only day of the trip that we got lost and stayed lost
for a long period of time.
We found many different streets that said they were Route 66. We
were never really sure if they were all Route 66 and just different
years or what. We made do and saw some fantastic places.
One thing tho that I didn't get a picture of was the little adobe
houses we saw in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. They were so cute
but so tiny. Didn't seem enough room for someone to actually live!
Here are a couple of our Albuquerque pictures.
Colorful neighborhood in Albuquerque |
We spent the night in Los Lunas, NM so we would be close by to see
son Jeff in the morning. I hadn't seen him in a year and a half so I
was excited.
Until next time,
Charyl
