Route 66, The Final Chapters

Day 1

Bartlesville, OK to Amarillo, TX

A couple years ago Dennis and I started on our Route 66 Adventure. Memorial Day weekend of 2012 we drove to Chicago and followed Route 66 down from Chicago to Vinita, OK.


We picked up where we left off on the Labor Day weekend of the same year. We started at Vinita and drove to Tucumcari, NM. We had a blast and loved every moment of the time we were on the Old Mother Road.


Consequently, we dreamed about finishing the trip so we could say we drove the entire Route 66 road. This year we planned the trip and made it happen.


On September 25, 2014, Dennis' 65^th birthday we headed out. Dennis got off work at Noon and we left around 2pm. We really didn't plan on getting far on day 1 or seeing very much but we were finally going to finish the dream.

We got hungry and stopped in Shamrock, TX and had a fine dinner at Mitchell's Family Restaurant.

We looked around Shamrock before we settled down to eat.

We stopped for the night in Amarillo, TX. Eager to head out early the next morning.
