Route 66 Kingman, AZ to Oatman, AZ to Needles, CA

Route 66 Adventure

Day 5 Part C

Kingman, AZ to Needles, CA

After lunch we again headed West towards Oatman, AZ. The drive was beautiful.

West of Ed's Camp the road got really hairy. Hairpin curves, switchbacks and sheer drops come quickly. There is a definite lack of guard rails. The drive made me a bit nervous.

Video taken at the Sitgreaves Pass. 3550 feet high.

After the top of the pass we drop back down to Oatman, AZ which is a town all of it's own out in the middle of nowhere. Again I wish we had time to just explore.

Again we head West to CA.

Had this welcome to AZ sign as we left AZ. Go figure.

On into Needles, CA where we spent the night.

I love My Murals~

We had a fun filled day. We were tired!!

More on our adventures tomorrow.

Have an awesome day,

Route 66 - Dinosaurs

Route 66 Adventure

Day 5 Part 2

Dinosaurs in Grand Canyon Caverns and MORE

Reluctantly, Dennis and I left Seligman, AZ and headed West on Route 66. The scenery was beautiful.

Grand Canyon Caverns

We were on a dinosaur search. Every time I think of dinosaurs I think of T-Rex and then I think of my daughter Holly, who loves T-Rex. We stopped at Grand Canyon Caverns, AZ which used to be called Dinosaur Caverns. OK we never saw the caverns but sure enjoyed the dinosaurs.

On our way to Kingman we enjoyed a wide variety of sights.  This old gas station was one of them.

We feel like we can see forever as we drive on.

 Hackberry, AZ

In Hackberry, AZ we find some cool old stuff plus another Giant Alert. This time it was a 14 foot tall “Tiki” Idol head.

Kingman, AZ

On towards Kingman, AZ where we saw a giant water tower with a huge “Historic Route 66” shield welcoming us to downtown.

We had a delicious lunch at Mr D's.

There is sooooo much to share during our afternoon. I am saving it for a separate blog.

Hope to see you on the next episode.

Love to have you become a follower of my blog.

Have the BEST day EVER,

Route 66 Flagstaff to Seligman

Route 66 Adventure

Day 5 Part 1

Flagstaff to Seligman

Dennis and I headed out early. We had a lot to see and do. Before we even left Flagstaff I wanted to see another Giant. This Giant was the 1st of all the Route 66 Giants. This one is an ax wielding Paul Bunyan installed in 1962, an ancestor to the 3 Illinois Giants. This Giant is located at Granny's Closet, which is said to be a great restaurant.

Leaving Flagstaff we had a variety of sights from the 66 Eaglerider to some uniquely colored townhouses.

Heading out of Flagstaff on our way to Williams, AZ.

We saw so many trains on our trip. We wished we had kept count. It would have been a staggering amount.

On to Ash Fork with a 1958 Desoto perched on the roof of DeSoto's Beauty and Barber Shop housed in an old gas station.

Next door in a pink and blue building is the Route 66 Grill.

Down the road is the Copper State Motel with its cobblestone walls.

On to Seligman and the world famous Snow Cap. This has long been the funniest food spot on '66, as the late Juan Delgadillo played a gamut of jokes and tricks on his customers, including false doorknobs, “squirting” catsup bottles and “slightly used napkins”.

Seligman has a variety of interesting places including:

The Rusty Bolt-
This is a little video I took

Me shooting some video.

The Copper Cart-

Tons of buses and motorcycles were stopped here. Seligman is a popular tourist town.

The Black Cat-

 and The Roadkill Cafe-

On down the road we came across the Arizona Territorial Jail and town front-

Well I guess this is enough for the moment and we haven't even had lunch yet.  As you can see I took tons of pictures. I LOVE to take pictures!!

Hope you are enjoying my photo blog.

Until next time as I continue our adventure,
