Shots in the Dark
A few years ago my friend, Coleen Hambrick, gave me a book she had just written called Shots in the Dark. The book was wonderful. It's a Christian book about a lady whose husband is shot. The lady goes to extreme lengths to attempt to figure out why this has happened.
I asked Coleen why she wasn't making it into a movie. You see, Coleen had helped make another one of her books, Death of Kevin Frye into a movie. Renee Michaels wrote the screen play and also directed and edited it. John and Coleen were the producers. Everyone worked hard to make it happen!
Coleen bounced the idea around in her brain for a while and decided to give it a try. 1st tho she needed to learn how to convert it into a screen play. And so the process began!

Dennis and I were on board to help Coleen and her husband John make this into an indy film. We were all excited. Both Dennis and I were going to play small parts in the movie. We were both going to help in any way we could. From encouraging Coleen as she directs to holding the boom for the sound.
Dennis was going to play the husband who got shot and died but before we could actually film that scene Dennis passed away.
I do have a couple pictures of Dennis helping to shoot another scene a few weeks before he passed away. Dennis helping John with a scene.
Since then, I have been helping Coleen and John in any way I possibly can. I have tried to be at as many shoots as possible. I am having a blast. Yes, it's hard without Dennis along for the ride but I am continuing to do all I can in honor of him. I know he would like that I have continued.
Yesterday we filmed another couple of scenes. Me, I take as many photos as I can while we are filming. Part to document what everyone is wearing and part to just have for Coleen to use in any way she needs.

I also got the privilege of reading another person's part while we were filming. I have been able to do this a few times and it's been fun each and every time.
I have also had the privilege of being in 2 scenes. One sitting in a bar as an extra. And the other as a receptionist with a speaking part. I have never done any acting before so this is all new and exciting for me. I have the easy part, just showing up for the shoots. Coleen is the one who is working HARD behind the scenes as both the director and film editor. I am very much amazed at all she had learned to do.
I will continue to keep you posted on the progress with this project as we all have a blast learning and filming.
